Danny Tim’s son raises cash for brain charity

- By STEPHEN FERNANE

A REMARKABLE feat was achieved recently when Tim O’Sullivan and Kacey O’Driscoll completed a mammoth cycle from Land’s End to John O’Groats – a 969 mile marathon cycle from the south westerly point of the UK in Cornwall to the most north easterly tip in Scotland.

Tim is the son of Kells born Danny Tim, who runs a successful construction agency in the UK and has given generously to so many charity projects over the years as Chairman of the Danny Sullivan Group.

Sadly, Danny Tim suffered a cerebral hemorrhage in June which is when Tim and his partner Kacey decided to undertake the cycle to raise funds for the National Brain Appeal Charity Fund. Since setting off on September 9, the couple managed to raise £47,000 through online donations by the time they completed their journey on September 17.

“We have been overwhelmed by the support and we’re very proud to have raised so much money. It is testament to Danny’s own charitable nature that people have all given so generously to this wonderful organisation, one that has helped save Danny’s life and that of many others. This will make Danny incredibly proud,” said Tim.

Danny Tim continues in his recovery and the funds raised from the cycle will help make a positive contribution to the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in London – a group that supports the hospital where Danny Tim underwent his treatment.

The couple’s cycle consisted of a gruelling 108 miles-a-day and a climb approximately 50,000 ft. over nine days. The couple described it as an ‘incredible adventure’ and a tough test of body and mind.

“Each day brought different challenges, including different climates. But being a part of one of the most iconic rides in cycling has been a very rewarding experience. From the bottom of our hearts we want to thank each and every one of you for being part of our journey,” Tim added.
