Siamsa set for exciting times in upcoming season

IT’S set to be exciting times again at Siamsa Tíre theatre in Tralee over the coming months, as the venue gets ready to launch its Autumn and Winter season of events.

Looking down the line up of touring theatre, comedy, art exhibition­s, music for all tastes, children/toddlers events and classical afternoon performanc­es, there looks to be a little something for everybody to enjoy.

Running from October 2017 to January 2018, the season opens with a number of special Clasical Afternoons with ‘ The Schubert Sessions’ - three concerts which will see Irish classical pianist, Dr Fionnuala Moynihan joining with Kerry Baritone singer Gavan Ring, violinist Mia Cooper and cellist Ailbhe McDonagh to perform the iconic Schubert 1827 Series.

Music lovers will certainly be left delighted with the range of music on offer this season with a large helping of Jazz from Honor Heffernan, Mary Coughlan and Ladies in the Blues.

Other musical acts taking place will include a ‘Vision of Elvis’, ‘ Duke Special’ on his Hallow tour, traditiona­l music with Trad Connection­s, Ceoltóirí Sliabh Luachra concert and the Irish Rambling House with Radio Kerry.

Irish comedian David O’Doherty will also be lending his talents to Tralee when, armed with his keyboard, he will be presenting an evening of his latest jokes and songs to the Kerry masses.

Schools and families are also set to be well-catered for over the coming months with an exciting children’s programme for all ages.

Acts such as ‘ There and Back Again: An Odyssey’, interactiv­e puppet show ‘ The Shape of Things’, the family friendly circus show ‘ Trash Test Dummies’ while Theatre Lovett returns to Tralee with their upbeat comedy-adventure entitled ‘ They Called her Vivaldi’.
