Kerry clubs in FAI Junior Cup action at weekend

Under 13

THERE was action in the rounds 1 and 2 with Mastergeeh­a and The Park progressin­g from Round 1. A round ahead and Iveragh United and Killorglin are through to Round 3.

Mastergeeh­a were impressive 6-1 winners over Holycross in Kilbrean Park with Eion Kelly 2, Padraig Moynihan, Jack O’Donoghue, Jack Fogarty and Hugh Lenihan all getting on the score sheet. Mastergeeh­a go to Tulla in Round 2.

The Park won on the road defeating Ballymacke­y 4-1 thanks to Callum O’Sullivan, Odhran Ferris, Jamie O’Shea and Ray McGrath. The Park led 2-0 at the break and while the home side got one back two further goals for the Tralee side wrapped up the win. The Park take on Tralee Dynamos conquerors Aisling Annacotty B in the next round.

Unfortunat­ely Killarney Celtic went down 3-4 to Lough Derg. All the goals came in the second half with Gearoid Healy and two from Eoghan Crowley giving Celtic a chance but they just could not find the equaliser to take the game to extra time.

Inter Kenmare lost 2-1 away to a strong AK United side with Darragh O’Sullivan getting the goal for Inter while Tralee Dynamos lost out in Limerick to Aisling Annacotty.

Iveragh United had a big win at home to Pallas United in a game that was threatened by the strong winds at one stage.

But the South Kerry side will be delighted it went ahead as they are now into Round 3. Emmet Daly scored twice with Ben Egan, Ben Donoghue, Fionn Barrett, Oisin Breen and Zak Fay Fayen all hitting the net once.

Killorglin are anther Kerry team to watch and won a difficult away game at Charlevill­e 2-1. Jack Lynch and Dara O’Connor got the goals for Killorglin. This now sets up the intriguing all Kerry clash of Killorglin versus Iveragh United in Round 3.

Under 15

THERE was always going to be one Kerry side progressin­g as Dynamos and Killarney Celtic met in Tralee and it was the visitors that took the win. Ruairi Dorrian, Cian McMahon and Erin Moloney scored to set up a home game with Shinrone United in Round 2.

Killorglin were big winners over Knockainey with Dylan Moriarty having a day to remember hitting five goals. Daniel Evans, Ryan Diggan, Tom Whittleton, Mikey O’Donnell and Callum Russell all got on the score sheet as swell. Killorglin will be away to the winners of the Killarney Celtic / Shinrone United game in Round 3.

The Park had to go all the way to penalties to get past Mungret Regional after the game ended 2-2 following extra time. John O’Connor and Ryan Guerin scored for the Park who make the short journey to Kilbrean Park in the next round.

Mastergeeh­a were 5-0 winners at home to Coole to set up that all Kerry clash. Cian Foley brought his shooting boots and hit four with Adam O’Sullivan getting the fifth.

Killarney Althletic went down 2-1 to Ballingarr­y with Jamie Alade getting their goal, while Ballyhar lost on the same score line away to Lough Derg. The home side went 2-0 up before Peter Cosgrave pulled one back but try as hard as they did the equaliser did not come for Ballyhar.
