THIS was a real crowd pleaser at Cahermonee­n providing 9 goals in a highly entertaini­ng game. Killarney Celtic clearly showed they will be serious title contenders winning the game relatively easy at the end.

Their man of the match was Peter McCarthy who scored four goals, while Wayne Sparling and Cathal O’Shea completed the scoring for the winners. Simon Lorne, Adrian Bohmer and Shane Lowth scored for Dynamos.

Castleisla­nd 2 Killarney Athletic 2

PREMIER A champions Killarney Athletic have not yet clicked into top gear and they let a 2-0 lead slip against Castleisla­nd on Sunday and had to settle for a point at the end of the day. It looked as if they were heading for victory leading 2-0 with 10 minutes to go with their goals coming from Shane Lynch and William Courtney.

However, true to their nature the home side rallied brilliantl­y and goals from Mike Cahill and Mike McCarthy gave them a share of the spoils.

Listowel Celtic 1 Fenit 3

FENIT Samphires travelled to Pat Kennedy Park and came away with a great win. Rob Prendivill­e, James Duggan and JJ Prior scored for the seasiders who now have maximum points after 2 games.

Killorglin 1 Tralee Celtic 2

NEWLY promoted Tralee Celtic made it a straight hat trick of wins with a hard earned victory over Killorglin in a very competitiv­e game.

Killorglin started strongly and went ahead in the 26th minute when Liam Carey opened the scoring for the home side with a delightful lob.

They created a few more chances but couldn’t add to the goal tally and just before half time Celtic were level with a goal from Alan O’Donoghue.

Celtic created a good few chances in the second half and they went ahead in the 81st minute when Fergal Moynihan pounced on a loose ball in the box and found the back of the net.

Killorglin kept pressing for an equaliser in the concluding stages of the game and were very unlucky not to score after a wonderful sweeping move sub Shane Crowley’s goalbound shot came back off the post.

Classic FC 4 Killarney Celtic B 0

CLASSIC proved to be too strong for Celtic and won this game comfortabl­y. Maxwell Mugabe grabbed a hat trick while Rory Kelly was also on the scoresheet for the winners.

Castlegreg­ory 3 Annascaul/Inch United 1

CASTLEGREG­ORY won the West Kerry local derby but they had to work hard to achieve it against an Annascaul/Inch side who were having their first outing of the season.

After going a goal behind Annascaul struck back before half time when a foul on Cathal Ferriter led to a penalty kick and Tommy Pierce put away the spot kick in emphatic fashion.

Annascaul had a few chances to go ahead as the second half progressed but 2 late goals secured the game for Castlegreg­ory.

Best for Annascual/Inch were Shane Foley, Jerry Foley, Tommy Smith and Tommy Pierce.

Killarney Athletic B 0 Mastergeeh­a B 1

THE battle of the Bs local derby was a close game where scoring chances were at a premium However, it was Mastergeeh­a who finally got the vital breakthrou­gh with Damien Breen scoring what proved to be the winning goal.

Asdee Rovers 1 Listowel Celtic B 1

ASDEE Rovers kicked off their new season at Craughdarr­ig Park on Sunday and were held to a 1-1 draw by Listowel Celtic. They had to come from behind to earn a draw with Brendan Angland putting Listowel Celtic ahead in the first half.

The equaliser came five minutes into the second half with Darren Murphy scoring with a strike from outside the box. They had a late chance to win the game but Peter McMahon was denied by a great save by Celtic goalie Shane O Sullivan.

Ballybunio­n 0 Mitchels Avenue B 0

A BIT of a surprise here with Mitchels Avenue B holding Ballybunio­n to a draw at Sandhill Road with neither side able to find the net.

St Brendan Park 4-3 Tralee Dynamos Ballyhar Dynamos 1-1 Killarney Athletic this. Conor O’Callaghan and Paul Murray scored for the winners.

Ballyheigu­e Athletic B 0 Mainebank 4

NEWCOMERS Mainebank got off the mark on Sunday with an impressive win over Ballyheigu­e Athletic. The first half was slow starting but a goal from outside the box from Colm O’Neill broke the deadlock. Stephen Cahillane pulled off a fine save near the end of the half to keep the score 1-0 at the break.

In the second Mainebank took control of the game with goals from Cian Flynn from the penalty spot after a handball in the box, Jonathan Regan after being set up with a through ball from Cian Flynn and Emmet O’Connor from a lay off from Jonathan Regan.

The Park 4 Tralee Dynamos 3

THESE arch rivals provided a seven-goal thriller with The Park taking the spoils at the end. The man of the match for Dynamos was Adi Cenalia who scored a hat trick.
