Home security systems require priority status

-

HOMEOWNERS should leave nothing to chance when it comes to security in the home. Break-ins and property related crime can be stressful, which is why greater preventive measures are needed to ensure peace of mind.

The aesthetic appeal of property will always matter but so should security. People overlook simple additions such as alarms and sensor lighting systems which now need to be made compulsory in all properties.

It is well over a decade since new builds were required to have smoke alarms fitted. So why not the same with home security alarms? Should legislation be introduced that requires us to install home security systems given the current climate? This deserves serious consideration.

For example, perhaps the government can offer incentives for homeowners to install home security systems. This would not only make homes more secure, but also help generate employment for electricians and home security firms. The government would also be sending out a strong message to criminals.

It’s only right for people when buying a home to set their minds on all the nice things that come with moving house. But security systems now need to be made a priority, regrettable as it sounds.

Sadly, home alarm and security systems are part of the environment we live in. They won’t solve the problem, but might just succeed in limiting it while giving peace of mind back to the homeowner.
