1. CBS THE GREEN SET TO HOLD FUN RUN

CBS The Green is busy putting the final touches this week to its third annual fun run, which which take place this Sunday October 1.

There will be options for both a 5k and a 3k available on the day with both routes being flat and suitable for both runners and walkers alike.

The run will start at 1pm on the day and registrati­on is available from the school and on the day of the run - the cost is €10 for adults and €5 for students and kids.

2. LIP SYNC EVENT IN AID OF SUDAN APPEAL

THE Bon Secours Hospital in Tralee is getting set to hold a Lip Sync Event this weekend, all in aid of the hospitals Sudan Appeal.

12 acts will put on their best performanc­es on the night of Saturday September 30, which will help send over 30 doctors to Sudan at New Years.

Starting at 8pm, tickets are set to cost €10 and can be purchased from the Bon Secours Hospital reception and restaurant in Tralee.

3. WEST SIDE STORY SET FOR SIAMSA TÍRE

MUSICAL fans are in for a treat next Wednesday as the Light Opera Society of Tralee bring ‘West Side Story’ to the Siamsa stage from October 4 to October 7.

Starting at 8pm each night, tickets are currently available to buy and are set to cost €17/€19.

4. TAKE ON THE BANNA BEAST CHALLENGE

BANNA Beast returns for its second outing of 2017 next weekend and there are still places available to register for the 8km long obstacle course.

Taking place on Saturday October 7 from 12 noon on the beautiful Banna Beach, thia is one event that will certainly test your abilities.

5. KIERAN SET TO LAUNCH HIS EP IN LISTOWEL

KERRY’S very own folk musician Kieran Mulvihill is getting ready to launch his EP this coming Friday night, September 29 in ‘MIke The Pies’ bar in Listowel.

Doors to the EP launch are set to open at 8:30, entry will cost €5 and EP’s will be available on the night from €5; Kieran will be playing songs from his EP on the night and will be joined by a full band and special guests.

6. MUNDY TO ENTERTAIN THE INEC NEXT WEEK

THE musical talents of Mundy are set to be on show in Killarney’s INEC next week, as the famous musician celebrate the 21st anniversar­y of the release of his ‘Jelly Legs’ album.

He will play in the INEC acoustic club on the night of Friday October 6 and there are still tickets available for the show. They are available to buy from the INEC box-office or on the INEC website.

7. ENABLE IRELAND SET FOR SWIMATHON

THE fifth year of the annual Enable Ireland Swimathon will take place this coming Sunday October 1 at the Banna Beach Hotel in Ardfert.

A continous eight-hour swim from 10am to 6pm, organisers are looking for any interested swimmers to take part and there is no age limit.

All swimmers will receive a medal - anyone interested can text ‘swim’ to 0877609768 or call 066 7128220.

8. CASTLEISLA­ND REMEMBERS CON HOULIHAN

THE much anticipate­d ‘Con Houlihan Trail’ will be launched in Castleisla­nd this coming Saturday September 30 at the River Island Hotel in the town from 11:30am.

This walking trail around the town will see specially designed wall plaques that will memorialis­e some of Con’s most famous quotes as well as telling the readers and walkers a little something about his life.

9. FAMILY FUN DAY IN BRANDON HOTEL THIS WEEKEND

THERE will be cheers for joy in the Brandon Hotel this weekend as the ‘Magical All Stars’ live tribute and fully interactiv­e childrens show takes place from 3 - 4:30pm on Sunday October 1.

Tickets will cost €10 per person on the door or €40 for a family of five - doors open 30 minutes before the show.

10. GET EXERCISING THIS WEEKEND

SEPTEMBER is here so why not try to head down to take part in one of the many parkruns taking place around Kerry at the weekends?

There are four parkruns in Kerry: Tralee, Killarney, Listowel and the Tralee Junior parkrun.

These completely free 5km events are run every weekend by volunteers and they have been proven to be extremely popular in improving both physical and mental health.

The Tralee. Listowel and Killarney parkruns are held every Saturday morning from 9:30am onwards while the Tralee Junior parkrun takes place on Sunday at 9:30am - these 2km events are aged for children from 4-14 years old.

Those looking to take part in the run for the first time can register at parkrun.ie where they can also print their necessary barcode.
