‘I hope the business community will join us for what is a great event’
THE fact we are nearing our second staging of The Kerryman Business Awards gives me great satisfaction. The response to this year’s competition has been phenomenal and is a fitting tribute to the success of last year’s event.
Businesses from a cross-section of industries have again submitted applications and after much deliberation a shortlist for each category has now been finalised. This is never an easy process given the quality and range of businesses that have applied, but the categories are now complete and we look forward to the main event at The Ballygarry House Hotel and Spa on Friday, October 13.
To our kind sponsors I wish to express my sincere thanks on behalf of The Kerryman. These businesses are an essential part of everyday life across the county, both from an employment perspective as well as the services they provide.
I was also very conscious this year of broadening the awards. For example, tourism and recreational pursuits in Kerry offer a wide-ranging number of services. With this in mind I introduced subcategories in our ‘Best Tourism Award’. Similarly, I have included “Best Family Run Business Award and a ‘Kerry Lifetime Achievement Award’ as there is ample scope for us to recognise and appreciate the lifetime endeavour of business people in Kerry.
Lastly, I very much hope Kerry’s business community will join us on October 13th for what promises to be a brilliant evening. We’re pleased that entrepreneur Caroline McEnery will be our MC for the event, while broadcaster Ivan Yates needs little in the way of introduction and we’re delighted that he will be our guest speaker. Good luck to all the businesses that have been shortlisted.
