INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY TRALEE ONE OF 11 COLLEGES FOR INVESTMENT
IT Tralee is set to be one of the beneficiaries of a large scale third level investment package that has been announced by the Government.
The programme will see the Department of Education invest €200million into large construction projects at 11 ITs.
In Tralee, funds from the investment programme will be used to build a new dedicated Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) building at the college’s North Campus at Dromtacker.
The 11 IT projects will be procured by the National Development Finance Agency
Education Minister Richard Bruton – who said the announcement marked a turning point for state investment in the sector – added it will be some time before they get underway.
Tenders are expected to issue towards the end of next year.
The Department hopes the first buildings will be ready for use in 2021. Up to 400 construction jobs could be created during the development phase of the new ITT STEM building.
Once it is completed, students participating in STEM courses will move from ITT’s South Campus in Clash to the North Campus.
Plans for the new €27.85 million STEM building were included in IT Tralee’s Strategic Plan for the five years to 2021 which was launched at the end of September.
All 11 developments will be built using the Public Private Partnership model. The State will pay €200m towards the buildings, which will be operated and maintained by private developers for 25 years after their construction. But despite the hat-tip from the NHI, she was as fast as lightening in thanking her team for helping her reach the top of her game.
“The awards will take place in the Citywest Hotel in Dublin on November 16, and I’m delighted to say that a number of work colleagues will travel up for the night as well,” she said.
“I was delighted when I heard about the recognition, but I’m just as delighted for the team behind me because, without them, this would never have happened.
“It’s nice to get a nomination for the work you put in, but the rewards are RUMOURS are circulating on the internet that Fossa’s own Michael Fassbender has tied the knot with girlfiend Alicia Vikander.
The pair, who have been spotted wearing wedding rings, are reported to have married in a private ceremony in Ibiza on Saturday, with family and friends in attendance.
There has been no official confirmation but reports suggest that celebrations began on Friday as the couple and friends enjoyed lunch on the beach before the reported ceremony on Saturday.
The couple met on the set of the film ‘ The Light Between Oceans’ in 2014 and had an ‘instant connection’. already there when you work in this job. We have 35 residents at ‘ Ocean View’ and you build up a good relationship with them over time. My favourite part of the job is working for them.”
Maura now has her sights on a trip to the capital for her big night, and as well her work colleagues, she’ll spend the award ceremony in the company of her family.
“I’m going to head up with my husband Seán; sons Mikey and Tom; and my daughter Caoimhe – and we’re all very much looking forward to the big night!”
