Crowds in tune with successful fundraiser
ENABLE IRELAND HOLDS GREAT NIGHT OF SINGING AND DANCING
IT was a night of great excitement and anticipation, with a few nerves thrown in as well of course, at Ballyroe Heights Hotel on Saturday night as 12 acts took to the floor for another year of Enable Ireland’s hugely popular fundraising ‘Lip Sing Battle’.
The ‘stars’ had certainly aligned on the night as renditions of Elvis, Rihanna and the Spice Girls entertained the audience of family and friends, while also being out to impress the three eagle eyed judges in Grace O’Donnell, Carol Birmingham and Lip Sing Battle 2016 winner Fr Padraig Walsh.
Amelia Lowe, Tara Dore, Jim Adams, Elayne Van Keulen, Amy Crean, Breeda Hurley, Pat Reidy, Bridie Courtney, Mary Gardiner, Jacinta Hobbert, Miriam and Eddie Flynn and Ger, Niall, Pa, Mike and Seán, who called themselves ‘The Spice Boys’ were the brave performers taking part on the night.
While the event was all about having fun, the far more pressing matter of fundraising was the ever present theme, with all funds raised from the night going towards the Enable Ireland Kerry services.
“It is fundraising events like this that financially support Kerry services to continue to offer a range of programmes and supports of the highest quality to the people of Kerry,” said Maria Leyden (Manager of Children’s Services) and Paula Henry (Manager of Adults Services).
The children’s services are based at Oakview Village, Tralee, and services are provided to children and adults via Kerry Intervention & Disability Services, while the Kerry Adult Services work to provide a range of centre based day services and community outreach services for adults from 18-65 who have a primary physical and sensory disability.
