Man Twenty Two earns favouritis­m for Juvenile Derby

THE Brendan Maunsell trained Man Twenty Two continued his terrific form to assure favouritis­m for the Dublin Coach Juvenile Derby on Friday night next at Shelbourne Park.

The Abbeydorne­y runner produced a blistering turn of early foot to lead early in his semi-final last weekend and never relented to cross the line in a phenomenal time of 28.02. A rising star of the game, this was his most impressive showing to date. Seven lengths back in second was the Owen McKenna trained Portmagee Dasher who is the property of Aidan O’ Sullivan from Portmagee.

No doubt there will be a cracking atmosphere at the Kingdom Greyhound Stadium next Friday night for the live broadcast of the race. The very best of luck to connection­s of both greyhounds. Let’s hope it’s a 1-2 for the Kerry runners!

COOLAVANNY Pet produced a phenomenal run to lead home in her semi-final of the Sporting Press Micro Dog ID Oaks last Saturday night at HQ.

Liam Dowling’s runner broke smartly from trap 3 and powered out of the opening bend to put herself in a great position facing the back straight. It was edge of the seat stuff off the last bend with four runners in the hunt for success, however Coolavanny dug deep and held her rivals at bay to claim a half length success in 28.58.

If she can secure a similar position passing the sprint boxes in next Saturday night’s final, see will no doubt be there with major shout off the last bend.
