Important away win for Mitchels Avenue

Killorglin 1 Mitchels Avenue 2

Anyone that had been writing off Mitchels Avenue in this division were made to stand up and take notice on Sunday when they recorded a great win over Killorglin. Mitchels Avenue went ahead in the 32nd minute after a corner kick with David Courtney applying a great finish.

Killorglin were back on level terms 6 minutes later when Dillon O’Sullivan slipped a lovely ball to Ryan Keane and he finished to the net. They almost went ahead shortly afterwards when Audie Dunlea skimmed the cross bar after being set up by Brendy Breen.

Mitchels Avenue were the better side in the second half and they wrapped up the three points with a second David Courtney goal late in the game.

Castleisla­nd B 5 Killarney Celtic B 1

Castleisla­nd got back to their winning ways with a comfortabl­e win over Killarney Celtic. Danny Feehan bagged a hat trick while Eamon Mc Loughlin and Pa O’Rourke completed the scoring for the islanders.

CSKA Tralee 2 Classic FC 4

After a few hiccups at the start to the season Classic FC are now hitting top form and they recorded another good win on Sunday over CSKA Tralee.

Maxwell Mugabe stole the show with a great hat trick while Anthony McAuliffe also grabbed a goal. Kieran O’Donovan and Anthony Shanahan scored for CSKA.

CG Killarney 4 Strand Road 1

CG Killarney continue to set the pace in this division and they took a major scalp on Sunday and done it in impressive fashion. Joe Donovan (2), John Foley and Tadhg Fleming scored for the winners with assists from, Sam Treharne, Tadhg Fleming, John Foley and James McCarrick.

Their best players were Joe Hurley, Gary Cassidy and Mike Murphy.

DENNY DIVISION 1B

St Brendan’s Park 2 Castlegreg­ory 1

The Park put table toppers Castlegreg­ory to the sword at Christy Leahy Park and consolidat­ed their position breathing down the necks of the West Kerry side.

Donagh O’Brien and Adam Ward scored for the winners. Michael O’Dowd was the Castlegreg­ory scorer.

Windmill United 7 Killarney Athletic B 3

This game gave spectators great value for money with 10 goals scored in a fast free flowing game. Jason Griffin and Paudie Bailey both scored twice for the winners and Gary Savage, Brendan Savage and Simon Daugtan were also on the scoresheet for the Blennervil­le side. Chris O’Meara (2) and Francis Quirke scored for Athletic.

DENNY DIVISION 2A

Classic FC B 1 Tralee Bay FC 0

Classic FC’s 100% record stays intact after five games but they had to work hard to win this Tralee derby. The goal that won the game was scored by Stano Mika.

Killorglin FC B 4 Mitchels Avenue B 1

Killorglin made it two wins on the trot with a comfortabl­e win over Mitchels Avenue. They displayed some good passing early in the game and in the 15th minute the pressure paid off when Mikey O’Sullivan slipped a fine ball through to Ryan O’Riordan and he slotted it away. Six minutes later O’Riordan doubled his tally when he headed in from a great cross by Jamie Cunningham.

Mitchels Avenue brought themselves back into the game early in the second half when Gavin Byrne scored with a great strike. Their fight back was short lived however as Ryan O’Riordan fired home to complete his hat trick.

Killorglin introduced a few subs at this stage for some and with time nearly up Mikey O’Sullivan made sure of the result with a well deserved goal after some tireless running all the game.

DENNY DIVISION 2B

Spa Road 5 Sneem Santos 0

Spa Road’s unblemishe­d record remains intact after five games with a surprising­ly easy win over Sneem Santos. Ethan Byrne (2), Tommy Moriarty, Ryan Byrne and Conor O’Callaghan scored for the Tralee side.
