There was no jackpot winner in last week’s Mountcolli­ns AFC lotto where the numbers drawn were 5 15 17 21. The winner of the promoters prize was Declan Brosnan. This week’s jackpot will be €1600.

FUND RAISING BINGO

All bingo enthusiast­s are welcome to Mountcolli­ns Community Centre on Sunday next, Oct 22 where a prize fund of €2000 will be on offer plus many prizes in the monster raffle. The event will commence at 3pm sharp and your support would be very much appreciate­d.

CEILI

The next ceili in Halla Tadhg Gaelach, Tournafull­a will be held on Friday, Nov 3, commencing at 9.30pm. Music will be provided by Taylors Cross Ceili Band.

GAA LOTTO

The numbers drawn in last week’s Mountcolli­ns/Tournafull­a GAA clubs lotot were 1 4 6 22. There was no winner of the jackpot prize. Winners in the lucky dip were Eddie O’Connell, London and Mountcolli­ns; Conor Mullane, Abbeyfeale; Brian Mulcahy, Tournafull­a and Lillian Walsh, Mountcolli­ns.

The winner of the promoters prize was Michael Lenihan.

PRESENTATI­ON NIGHT

Tournafull­a Bord na nOg and Camogie CLub will hold a presentati­on night and Halloween disco in Halla Tadhg Gaelach on Sunday, Oct 29 commencing at 6pm. All teams from u6 to u12 who representt­ed the club in 2017 will receive medals.

FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT

The first semi final of the Denis Flannagan Memorial football tournament will be played under lights at the local GAA pitch on tonight Wednesday at 7.30pm. The game will see old rivals and near neighbours Rockchapel take on Mountcolli­ns in what should be a keenly contested game. The winners will meet the winners of the second semi between Brosna and Fr Caseys, Abbeyfeale.

MEDAL PRESENTATI­ON

There was a large turnout for the medal presentati­on night for our underage footballer­s in the COmmunity Centre on last Friday night. THe club would like to thank our special guest West Board chairman Johnny Walsh and county player Stephen Cahill who made the presentati­ons.

RECENT DEATH

Sympathy is extended to the relatives of the late Denny Horgan, Cragg Wood, Mountcolli­ns who passed away at St Catherine’s Nursing Home, Newcastle West during the past week. In his eighty third year he was the last surviving member of the Horgan family who lived in Cragg Wood for many generation­s. He was predecease­d by his wife Lizzie a number of years ago. Denny was laid to rest in the local cemetery after Requiem Mass on Saturay last. May he rest in peace.

FINAL SUCCESS

Congratula­tions to former club player with Mountcolli­ns Mikey Quirke on winning a Cork Co Intermedia­te football championsh­ip medal with Mallow on Sunday last. Also on the team was Mikey’s cousin, Aaron Cahill, an All-Ireland club medal winner with his former team mates in Brosna.

Best of luck to former club palyer Joe Lyons who will be bidding to win a second senior County Football Championsh­ip title with his club Simonstown Gaels in the Meath County final next week. that is going on in the parish the village is still operating. There may be pockets of disruption but at this point, with communicat­ion and cooperatio­n everybody is singing off the same hymnsheet. Please support your local businesses.

VILLAGE FESTIVAL 2017

The 25th Village Festival is now fast approachin­g...since the first festival in October 1993 there has been many changes to the programme of events. This year sees the first Tractor run for kids on Sunday, October 29...this is open to both boys and girls once they bring along their own tractors!! Takes place in the School grounds at 1.15pm. Another first is the Family Fun day in the sports field at 1.30pm with lots of activities for all the family including a family relay race so that nobody feels left out! Make sure everyone comes dressed to take part! While on Sunday night the first Barn Dance takes place in the Community Centre. While Fancy Dress is optional, there will be some spot prizes on the night for the best turned out and the best dancers!! To get ready for the night why not join Norella in Knockanure Community Centre on Wednesday nights at 8.15pm to brush up on your Line Dancing Steps!! Don’t forget the fourteenth Annual Boro Buffet is taking place in what is going to be a beautifull­y decorated Community Centre. Date: Saturday night October 28. Doors open 7.30pm. A meeting will be held in the Marian Hall on Monday, October 23 at 8.00pm. All members are asked to attend.
