Gooch and golf pals help raise over €25k for St Mary of Angels
ST Mary of the Angels in Beaufort paid a big thank you to the organisers of a golf classic at Ballybunion this summer and all who played in it – including friend of the centre Colm Cooper – after it raised a whopping €25,889.
The money was presented this week to the centre at the location of the July 7 classic: Ballybunion Golf Club. “This was the first big fundraiser of part of a big fundraising initiative to bring SMOA back to its former glory, by re-surfacing roads, restoring greens and building much needed extensions,” one of the organising parents told The Kerryman.
The funds come as the facility – which is home to 76 residents with severe to profound intellectual and physical disabilities – prepares to celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2018.
