KWD launches schools initiative
FOLLOWING on from the success of the “KWD Kids Recycling” programme in 2010, KWD Recycling relaunched its “Recycle Right” initiative this week in the hope of boosting understanding of recycling amongst primary school teachers and students.
The launch took place with a fun-filled waste and recycling workshop in Fossa National School this week, and KWD aims to visit all of the county’s primary schools in the months ahead, with an eye to promoting correct, responsible recycling in schools and homes.
Each student received a KWD “Recycle Right” booklet containing fun facts and information and quizzes about waste and recycling, andd a personal certificate for attending the workshop.
“It is important to teach people about the latest recycling practices and where better to start than with the younger generation,” a KWD spokesperson said this week.
“It was clear from the expressions on the children’s faces that the workshop was a great success. They were very enthusiastic to learn about waste and recycling, through informative videos detailing the process of what happens to what you place into each bin, and what happens to the different types of waste that come back to the recycling facility.”
