THE GAME IN 60 SECONDS
MAIN MAN
A lot to admire about the input of both Kevin Gorman and Matt Keane for Kilcummin while David Moran did lift the tempo and impose his considerable presence on proceedings for the Blues in the second half. However, with Barry John Keane, being the only starting forward to score from play, his scores and the timing of them did most to ensure his team’s survival in the competition.
KEY MOMENT
Barry John Keane’s first half goal given that it immediately cancelled a similar score for Kilcummin. It meant that the Blues kept in touch at a period in the game when they were struggling to get scores, and, had them level at the interval. In a game of fine margins a goal was always going to be crucial and the score proved significant.
TALKING POINT Kilcummin bow out of the SFC after two decades. The result of next Sunday’s Intermediate final will mean that either Kenmare District will participate next season drawing from just Tousist and Kilgarvan or West Kerry will field without 12 of this year’s starting fifteen. Shannon Rangers will also feature having been beaten by 25 points in this year’s preliminary round. Certainly, food for thought and fuel for debate for the Review Committee.
