FIXTURES Jotty Holly Memorial Minor North Kerry Championship Semi-Final Emmets v Desmonds Game cancelled due to weather conditions and will be re-fixed in due course. North Kerry Bernard O’Callaghan Senior Championship - Quarter Final Emmets V Asdee Date: Sunday, November 5th 2017 Venue: Frank Sheehy Park, Listowel Time: TBC As is customary both teams were paraded in front of their many supporters to much fanfare after which Amhran na bhFhiann was played to add to the occasion for these young footballers. This was Ballyduff’s fourth year in succession reaching the final and having won the previous two finals, they were hoping to match the 3-in-a-row by Ballydonoghue 2008-2010. Moyvane, meanwhile, were making their first appearance in a Tommy Madden Final and exploded into the game from the throw-in with full forward Rian Quinn netting a goal inside the first minute to give Moyvane a perfect start. The next five minutes were keenly contested with the play flowing up and down the pitch until Ballyduff opened their account with a point from their full forward Anthony Kavanagh. T.J. Mulvihill scored a lovely point from play and when Rian Quinn latched onto a long delivery from a free to score his and Moyvane’s second goal in the 9th minute, it was obvious that Ballyduff were up against a team on a mission. Moyvane proceeded to add another 8 points(3f) to Ballyduff’s 1pt to leave the half-time score at Moyvane 2-09 Ballyduff 0-02 Ballyduff introduced some fresh blood for the second half and went at Moyvane’s lead with all their might but they found it very hard to get through a resolute Moyvane defence. Aidan Swan was a strong presence at full back throughout, with able assistance from his corner backs Patrick O’Connor and the flame haired Conor Sweeney who cleared danger on several occasions. Rian Quinn was re-located to centre back after an injury to Oisin Kennelly, after 15mins, and along with Luke Mansfield and Tadhg O’ Connor made up a formidable half back line. After soaking up this early pressure from Ballyduff, Moyvane struck for two goals in the 8th/9th minutes of the second half, the first from the tricky Jamie Moloney and the second from the industrious Cormac O’ Connor, to effectively end the game as a contest. Ballyduff, to their credit, didn’t give up and driven on by Kieran O’Carroll in particular they added three points to their tally one being an excellent score under pressure from the aforementioned Kieran O’ Carroll. M oyvane scored 4 points in the second half-Danny Lyons(f), captain Jack O’ Keeffe, T.J. Mulvihill and a beauty from 30yards from the left leg of Jamie Moloney to leave the Final score at Moyvane 4-13 Ballyduff 0-05. Ballyduff had some great victories to make it to the Final but on the day, they had no answer to a Moyvane team that simply were outstanding, playing some beautiful football at times, moving the ball quickly, lovely kick passing to space and clinical finishing all through. Colman O’Flaherty had an excellent game with the whistle and along with his linesmen Eamon Moran and Mike Joy and umpires all present were treated to a well handled sporting contest. Paddy and Kitty Madden presented a jubilant Moyvane Captain Jack O’ Keeffe with the trophy, Jason Foley presented the Moyvane MOTM trophy to the outstanding Rian Quinn and Brion O’Seannachain presented the Ballyduff MOTM trophy to the outstanding goalkeeper Killian Boyle. There were also presentations made to the trainers of both participating teams and to referee Colman O’ Flaherty. Sean Moriarty, Sec. NKB Coiste-na-nOg expressed thanks to the Ballydonoghue Club for their excellent organization and facilities and of course, in particular to the Madden Family for their very generous sponsorship of the jewel in the Board’s underage programme. It is our only competition where we have no divisions, all teams go into the draw and it always gives great entertainment. Moyvane GAA club would like portray their sence of pride in these players. Our club is so proud of each and every one of you! Ye are a credit to our club and we look forward to what the future holds with players like ye on board! Roll on 2018! Moyvane: Fionn Mulvihill, Patrick O’Connor, Aidan Swan, Conor Sweeney, Luke Mansfield, Oisin Kennelly, Tadhg O’Connor, Jack O’Connor, Jack O’Keeffe, Ger Brosnan, Cormac O’Connor, TJ Mulvihill, Jamie Moloney, Rian Quinn, Danny Lyons Subs: Diarmuid O’Connor, Darragh O’Keeffe, Pat Massey, Conor Kissane, Michael Mulvihill.

NORTH KERRY CHAMPIONSHIP RD 1: Moyvane 0-11 Duagh 1-15 after extra time. It was level pegging between the two sides and with a draw at full time, Moyvane were within a fine grasp of progressing to the second round, but unfortunately, it was Duagh’s day and they got the better of us in extra time! Hard luck lads, ye gave it ye’re all this year! Here’s to a fresh start in 2018! THE dust has barely settled on the County Senior Hurling Championship and the spotlight still remains on the players who participated in this season’s competition with the fifth Annual Hurling All Star Awards scheduled to take place on this Saturday evening in the Railway Bar in Lixnaw.

The event will commence with a reception at 7.30pm and the awards will be presented at 8pm.

Along with the individual awards on The Team of the Season there will also be awards for the Senior and Young Player of the Year. The four previous recipients of the Senior Player Award, Darren Dineen, Tom Murnane, Daniel Collins and Padraig Boyle are all included in this year’s 45 nominations with all eight clubs being represented.

There will be special guests and speakers on the night, and if previous events are an indicator it’s again going to be a hugely successful and enjoyable occasion in a social and sporting context.
