TREE BLOCKS TRAIL
Although there was very little damage caused by ex-hurricane Ophelia in the locality it did cause a blockage on the Great Southern Greenway at Tullig Wood when section of a large beech tree came crashing down across the trail. It was removed by Limerick City and County Council later in the week.
THE DEAD REMEMBERED
Deceased members of the community who went to their eternal reward since November last, as well as those laid to rest in in the two local cemeteries will be remembered in a special way on Sunday next, October 29. Mass will be at 12 noon on the day and relatives of those who died during the past twelve months are invited to bring a candle in their memory to the altar during mass. Anyone wishing to have their loved ones remembered in this way is asked to give name to Sacristan Noreen before the weekend. Directly after mass there will be prayers in Reilig na Tríonóide. At 3pm that day there will be prayers for the dead in the Old Cemetery Church Road. Nowadays only a small number of burials take place here each year, but it enjoys a regular stream of visitors, many of whom visit the grave of holy woman Nellie Doody. Most of those buried here are from the parishes of Tournafulla and Templeglantine.
