Kerry Group up for Bord Bia awards

MULTINATIONAL NOMINATED IN BOTH EXPORT AND SUSTAINABILITY AWARDS FOR A NUMBER OF DEVELOPMENTS

-

MULTINATIONAL food giant Kerry Group is in the running for two gongs at the country’s most prestigious food awards it was announced this week.

Its capturing of a huge market with the Cheestring brand and its innovation with cutting-edge technology to ensure sustainable production practices as much as possible have earned the giant two placings on the shortlist of the Bord Bia Food and Drink Awards.

The awards, which take place on Wednesday, November 29, next in the RDS see the country’s food producing leaders vying for a number of coveted gongs in a variety of categories. Kerry Group will be there contesting the Export and Sustainability categories.

“The Kerry Group, a leader in the global food industry headquartered in Tralee, will compete for both Export and Sustainability Bord Bia Awards,” Bord Bia said last week, with a spokesperson explaining the reasons behind the Group’s shortlistings.

“The Cheestrings brand, listed in the export category, is now available to more than 350 million consumers across ten European markets while the Group’s comprehensive sustainability strategy based around four key pillars sees it shortlisted in the sustainability category.

“This award will recognise companies that have planned and executed significant sustainability commitments in relation to sourcing, resource efficiency, health and nutrition and contributions to their local community,” they said. A NIGHT of music, dance and storytelling will take place in the Glenflesk GAA Hall this coming Saturday night, November 18.

Billed by organiser Nealie Moynihan as a great way to spend your Saturday night, the night will run from 8pm to 11pm and there will be tea and brack served as well on the night.

“Everyone is welcome to come down on the night. We usually get a good crowd on the night. All of the money that we’ll raise on the night will be going towards the Kerry/Cork Health Link bus,” said Nealie, talking to The Kerryman on Tuesday. TRALEE Omniplex has announced that there will be another ‘Secret Screening’ taking place on the evening of Monday, November 20 at 6:45pm.

The screenings, which offer the public the chance to see a major new film before it goes on general release, hsa been a huge success to date.

Next Monday’s film will be a major comedy drama; there are limited tickets available for the screening and are available to book online at the Omniplex website or through the cinema itself.
