THIS game was a lot closer than the final scoreline suggests with Ballyhar creating a lot of scoring chances but just could not put them away. QPR led 2-0 at half time and they added two more in the second half to run out comfortabl­e winners at the end This was the third win on the trot for the East Kerry side and puts them 4 points clear at the top of the table and they are very serious title contenders this season. Shane Reen (2), Tom O’Sullivan and George Dobbins scored for the winners. Ballyhar’s best players on the day were Dan O’Shea, Kevin O’Sullivan, Niall McCarthy, Cathal Daly and Padraig O’Connor.

Strand Road 1 CG Killarney 1

THE sides could not be separated in this keenly contested game. Joe Donovan scored for CG after an assist from John Foley and their best players on the day were Tadhg Fleming, James McCarrick and Mike Murphy. Dan Kinsella was the Strand Road goal scorer.

ASDEE Rovers extended their unbeaten run to four games after a hard earned win over Castlemain­e United at Mounthawk Park on Friday night. In a tight and very competitiv­e game both sides had plenty of scoring chances in the opening half but the game was scoreless at half time. The goal that won the game came in the 65th minute and it was a real gem from the boot of young Seamus O’Sullivan who delightful­ly curled a 25 yards free kick to the top corner of the net for a goal of sheer class worthy of winning any game. Castlemain­e pressed hard for an equaliser and Ciaran O’Connor was unlucky to be denied by the woodwork late in the game.

Windmill United 3 Annascaul Inch Utd 0

WINDMILL United bounced back from their previous week’s surprise defeat with a comfortabl­e win over Annascaul/Inch United. Sean Kerins, Jason McCoy and Simon Daughton scored for the Blennervil­le side who now move up to within 3 points of table toppers Castlegreg­ory with a game in hand.

St Brendan’s Park 4 Mastergeeh­a B 2

THE Park closed in on the title contenders with a good win over Mastergeeh­a. The man of the match for the winners was Mikey Burke who snatched a hat trick while John Dineen completed the scoring for the Tralee side. They are now in second place in the table just 2 points behind league leaders Castlegreg­ory. Derry Aherne and Karol Gniewek scored for Mastergeeh­a.
