-

DENNY DIVISION 2A

Mitchels Avenue B 1 Tralee Bay FC 0

MITCHELS Avenue just edged this Tralee derby in a game that could have gone either way. The match winning goal was scored by David Hennessy.

Classic FC B 0 Ballymac Celtic 1

BALLYMAC Celtic ended Classic FC’s 5 game 100% record on Sunday with a great 1-0 victory at Mounthawk Park.

For a long time it looked as if this game would end scoreless but Ballymac who are improving with every game got a dramatic winner in the 90th minute.

The first half was a tight affair with Classic missing a few scoring chances and it was scoreless at half time.

Ballymac made a few changes for the second half and it had the desired effect and now they were displaying greater scoring potential.

Dwyer Tobin hit the crossbar for Classic and the Ballymac goalie had to be agile to get the rebound.

As the game entered the final minute Brian Hanrahan raced on to a kick out got past a defender and then hit a low hard shot across the box to Rafa Nana and he slotted it home for a most dramatic winner.

It was a great all round performance by Ballymac and their man of the match was Jack O’Shea. This was their third straight win and they look like serious title contenders in this division. This win elevates them to second in the table 6 points behind Classic with a game in hand.

AFTER losing their opening four games of the season Lenamore Rovers hit top form out in Ballylongford on Sunday with a big win over Lisard Wanderers.

This is a very young an inexperienced Lenamore side who are gaining in confidence as they get more games under their belts. They won this game in great style and the win will give them a huge lift for the season ahead.

Shane O’Sullivan (2), Daniel Bardon (2), Ben Godfrey and Liam Mulvihill scored for the Ballylongford side. Eoin Murphy and Thomas O’Sullivan scored for Lisard Wanderers.
