Scoil Eoin Balloonagh win first title for the school

DIVISION 2 FINAL

THE first half of this final was played at a blistering pace with excellent passages of football. The Murphy boys, Ben and Jack, were in flying form at midfield for the winners. They helped in defence dominated the midfield possession­s and assisted in attack with great effect. However Scoil Mhuie na Mainistrea­ch landed the opening goal through Robbie Harne and Gearóid Sugrue extended the lead with a well taken point.

Scoil Eoin Balloonagh responded with a rasper of a goal from full forward Tomás Kennedy. Tomás converted two frees to give his side the lead for the first time a lead that they wouldn’t relinquish. Kalvin O’Sullivan who was in inspiring form levelled matters for the Killarney outfit.

Noah Townsend was at the end of a fine flowing movement to convert goal number two for the Tralee boys. The lively Paddy Lane added a point which was cancelled out at the other end with fine individual effort from Oisín Fleming for The Mon.

A second goal from towering full forward Tomás Kennedy and a point from Noah Townsend left Scoil Eoin who were in search of their first title 3-4 to 1-3 ahead at the break.

Scoil Eoin were in scintillat­ing from in the second half and had top performers in Fionán Ryan, Mark Carmody in defence the Murphy brothers at midfield and Jake O’Connor, Noah Townsend and top scorer Tomás Kennedy and ran out comprehens­ive winners under the tutlage of Mr. John Brosnan and Mr. Sean Farrell to claim a first boys Allianz Cumann na mBunscol title for Scoil Eoin, Balloonagh.

The finals of the Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Rural Schools competitio­ns along with the Division 1 final will be played today (Wednesday) in Austin Stack Park.
