Solid gold for Listowel firm
AN award-winning Listowel retail company has just added another solid gold string to its bow, winning a National Convenience Store Award this week for its excellence in service for one of a number of outlets in its expanding repertoire.
The H2 Group took the Best Convenience Store of the Year Award at the ShelfLife National C-Store Awards 2017 in the 2,500 - 4,000 sq foot category for its store in Fermoy Co Cork. It was one of a handful of awards hundreds of stores and companies nationwide vied for in the competition - announced at a gala ceremony in Dublin’s Royal Marine Hotel last week.
The H2 Group received the award for its newest store in Fermoy, barely open a year and already making big retailing waves. The store employs over 40 people and has already taken the title of the Best New Forecourt of the Year in Ireland’s Forecourt Awards announced last June.
The group now employs more than 220 people across the country in nine different locations – including both Spars in Listowel as well as its head office in Clieveragh.
“We are delighted and honoured to have received this National award on behalf of our dedicated team in Fermoy and our head office team in Listowel,” managing director Sean Heaphy said. “It was a large development project to take on and it has now given us the confidence to develop further sites of this scale and nature,” he added. He and the group were congratulated for their gr eat efforts by Spar sales director Colin Donnelly: “It is their relentless drive and ambition that sets them apart from their peers.”
