A positive year for Farranfore as it looks to 2018 with confidence

-

THE Farranfore Development Association has every reason to reflect positively on 2017 and now that the Christmas tree and lights are up and brighter than ever - thanks to Kerry County Council’s Community Support Fund - it’s time to pause and take stock of the year and look ahead to 2018.

The Railway Water Tower Amenity Area got the go ahead this year and work will commence shortly, thanks to LEADER funding. The association also supported Kerry County Council in securing funding under the Town & Village Renewal Scheme which will go towards village enhancement works with a particular focus on the Killarney and Tralee approaches to the village.

The Tidy Towns Group increased its score by 12 points to 260 points this year, while the association also supported community CPR training, which saw over 100 individuals receive CPR training last January and February with plans in place to run more CPR training in early 2018, suitable for beginners and as a refresher course.

Richard Sherwood is Chairman of Farranfore Development Association and he said this time of year is not just about reflection, but also a time to say thank you to everyone who supports Farranfore on a day to day basis throughout the year.

“Christmas is a time to show our appreciation to Farranfore Development Association members and to people in the wider locality. It was a very successful year and next year promises to be even busier as many projects that we have campaigned hard to secure are coming to fruition in the next few months,” said Richard. It’s also been a great year in terms of recreational endeavours with news that two Farranfore walking routes will be part of the Sli Na Slainte network. Dan Ahern is Secretary of Farranfore Development Association and he also praised the hard work and effort by everyone in 2017. “It’s important to keep a village like Farranfore to the fore as our location close to Kerry airport and the rail line offers huge future potential for Farranfore,” said Dan.
