Hurling Club: The AGM of Abbeydorne­y Hurling Club took place recently and the following officers were elected for the 2018 season. Treasurer : Patrick Slattery, PRO : Mary Roche, Insurance Officer/Registrar : Jackie Treanor, Child Welfare Officer : Peter Hinchliffe, Cultural Officer : Mary Roche, Health and Wellbeing Officer : Ian Maunsell. Player’s Representa­tive : Eoin Egan, NKHB Delegates : Timmy Weir, Jackie Treanor. Co. Board Delegate : Timmy Weir. Bord Na nÓg Awards: The annual Abbeydorne­y GAA Bord Na nOg Awards for 2017 took place in the clubhouse on Sunday 3rd December. A great turnout was had with players from Under 6 all the way to Under 16 receiving their respective rewards. The medals were presented by Abbeydorne­y/Kerry minor Michael Slattery and Abbeydorne­y/Kerry Senior Jamsie O Connor, to Abbeydorne­y’s stars of the future. The awards were followed directly after with a family fun quiz and it all proved to be a very enjoyable evening for all involved. Abbeydorne­y Bord Na nOg would like to thank all the people who helped in putting the day together: Conor Kearney, Mary Roche, Jacinta O’Dowd, Brenda Dowling for organising the fun table quiz, and Michelle Carroll for her great work in organising the raffle. Thanks also to the businesses in the parish who donated spot prizes for the raffle. Finally, a big thank you to our dedicated group of coaches who give of their free time, the parents for their support during the year and most importantl­y of all the underage players themselves for their commitment as we look forward to a successful 2018. Abbeydorne­y GAA Abroad : Congratula­tions and well done to Padraig Dineen. who represente­d local club, Singapore Gaelic Lions on the 2017 Hurling All-Stars team who played the 2016 Hurling All-Stars in the 2017 PwC All-Stars Hurling Exhibition Game in Singapore last Saturday. Padraig also got his name on the scoresheet for the winning side, scoring a goal for the 2017 All-Stars side. Juvenile Football : A meeting to discuss starting juvenile football in Abbeydorne­y for 2018 (U6/ U8/U10) will take place in Abbeydorne­y Parish Hall meeting room on Tuesday 19th December @ 8:30pm, an open meeting, all welcome. Everybody interested please attend as depending on response at this meeting next steps will be decided.

All- Ireland Medal Presentati­on : Congratula­tions to Ronan O’Donovan, Michael O’Leary and Stevie O’Sullivan, who were presented with their All-Ireland U21 =91B’ Hurling C’Ship medals at a Banquet in The Rose Hotel on Saturday, 2nd December. Club Player, Michael Slattery, was also presented with his All-Ireland Minor Football winning medal. Well Done to all. Kerry GAA 5 Year Ticket Scheme (2018 -- 2022) : is now open and entry to the scheme costs €600 per unit. There is a special offer of six units for the price of five. Each scheme member will receive a free Kerry Jersey personalis­ed and autographe­d by a player of choice if desired. The 5 Year Ticket will entitle supporters to purchase a stand ticket for all Championsh­ip games up to and including the final.
