Support St Vincent de Paul in Killorglin

-

THE SVP shop on Iveragh Road is as busy as ever this time of year helping people to enjoy a better Christmas. The store manager is Karen Terry who said the people of Killorglin and mid Kerry have been extremely generous when it comes to giving assistance and it is this generosity that enables SVP in Killorglin to help people.

“This year more than ever I’ve noticed that we’ve received donations every day and I just can’t state enough how generous people are,” said Karen.

The Killorglin SVP shop also covers place like Cromane, Beaufort and Milltown which means their resources are in constant need of replenishing.

Karen said the shop’s location close to some of the major stores is also advantageous in that a steady footfall brings people to the shop on a regular basis. The Killorglin store will be three years opened in May 2018 and it offers a vital service to people of the area.

“Christmas is always a stressful time for people and I know that the wider organisation are busy right now with visitations. Every year it seems to be getting worse and education is now an important part of what we do and I can vouch for the whole education side of things myself,” said Karen.

“There are also many different levels of what you might call people in ‘personal difficulty’ and there is no one definition of how a person will need assistance. We rely on the goodwill of the public to help people, especially at this time of year.”
