Abbeyfeale’s Christmas well and truly underway...

-

IT was an evening to savour for the residents of Abbeyfeale recently as they took to the streets for the official start of Christmas in the town. The festive lights were switched on to kick start the holiday season as over 2000 adults and children packed the Square on a chilly evening to witness the spectacle which proved an extremely heart-warming event, according to Maurice O’Connell, Chairperson of Abbeyfeale Community Council.

“The simultaneous shouts of ‘wow’ heard from all age groups when the lights were switched on was a moment well worth waiting for. This was followed shortly afterwards by Santa arriving into town on his Sleigh, escorted by a Garda Car and Fire Engine and the amazed look on children’s faces as he pulled up and waved to everyone was something to be cherished by all,” Maurice said.

Maurice added that he felt extremely proud and delighted for everyone who had put in such effort planning the event over the past twelve months and to see their work come to fruition was very rewarding, while the overwhelming amount of good wishes and positive feedback that resulted is a bonus.

“Again, it just shows what can be achieved when various organisations and groups come together and sincere gratitude has to go to several members of Abbeyfeale Community Council, Abbeyfeale Christmas Lights Committee, Abbeyfeale Tidy Towns, Abbeyfeale Town Park and the numerous volunteers who helped out,” Maurice said.

Abbeyfeale is a place that gets behind everything that’s positive when it comes to promoting the town, especially the owners of premises who have supplied power for the Christmas Lights and all the wonderful children and their families who supported the community’s efforts.

“To everyone and anyone who helped in any way to make this the success that it was, Abbeyfeale Community Council salutes you for doing your part in bringing some wonderful festive cheer to Abbeyfeale. Merry Christmas Everyone,” Maurice concluded.
