HOPE FOR HOMELESS

What a fantastic evening in Namirs for ‘ Hope For Homeless’ on Friday 1st of December such a brilliant turnout. I can’t thank everyone enough for all the support.

The whole community and beyond have really overwhelmed us with your care and generousity in various ways such as toiletries, financial donations and 95 bags of clothing with the support of Terry Trainer! The general expression from the community has been one of how can I help.

The local Businesses were more than happy to contribute spot prizes for ‘ Hope For Homeless’ and the gifts given were so generous so a big thank you to Rose Marie’s Hair Studio, Leanne Templeton Hair Studio, Beauty By The Beach, Pat Joyce (Post Office), Magic Scissors, Ballybunion Leisure Centre, Brown’s Butchers, Chemist Ballybunion, Supervalue Ballybunio, Ladawin Massage voucher and Marie Rohan for her framed photography and calendars.

The total amount of money raised was €1,155. The evening was more than we could have imagined with the fantastic talent of our dear friend Kerrie Herbert who sang her heart out for the cause with a fantastic selection of songs to compliment the evening. Jackie Goodall was the writer of the evening who did a fantastic job of expressing the multiple layered circumstances of homelessness. Jackie’s poem is titled ‘ Home Sweet Homelessness’. The Guest Speaker on the night was Cyril Thomas who spoke tremendously about ‘Hope For Homeless’ and about similar work he did in Hong Kong.

CHRISTMAS IN BALLYDUFF

Community Spirit is alive and well in Ballyduff, as was witnessed on Sunday December 10th at our Christmas Festival. We wish to thank all who helped us in any way on the day, including local businesses and individuals. It was heartening to see all who came to help set up the market in the morning and the convoy of vans, trucks and individuals that descended on a cold dark square that evening and helped dismantle the marquees and left the place as if nothing had taken place. A special mention to the stewards who braved the cold and came out in force. We have to thank Santa, Mrs Claus and their elves who gave us a magical day. Finally thanks to all who attended and made our first attempt at holding such an event a fantastic success. We wish you all a Happy Christmas and a Peaceful New year. Go raibh míle, míle maith agaibh go léir.
