Sincerest sympathy is extended to Richard Denihan and Family of Ballyline, on the sad passing of his sister Mary of Stoneyhurst, Dooradoyle, and formerly of Gortnagross, Athea. Co. Limerick who died on Friday last December 15th May She Rest In Peace. Ar dheis dea go raibh a hAinm dílis. army man and to a man who loved to sing and did so with great gusto in his favourite haunts in Tralee and Camp during his long and happy retirement back home again after a very dedicated and fulfilled working life. John is survived by his sons John, Rory, Gary and Patrick, daughter Jacqueline, sister Maura, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, son-in-law Andrew, daughters-in-law Glenwyn, Bernadette, Josephine and Mary, relatives and friends. Sympathy is extended to all. R.I.P.

Heidi O Neill, a lovely quiet and elegant lady who spent most of her life between Dublin and her home in Camp passed away peacefully recently. After requiem mass at St. Marys Church, Camp on Wednesday, her family and friends in the community of Camp conveyed her funeral cortege on her last journey down the height past the home she loved to her final resting place at Ballinknockane Cemetary Camp, where she was laid to rest alongside her husband Alex who predeceased her. Heidi is survived by her son Alex, daughters, Sandra, Caroline, Charlotte and Hedi, grandchildren, sister Maria, extended family, relatives and many friends. Sympathy is extended to all. R.I.P.

And it was with sadness that we learned of the death of Carolyn Jenkins/O Sullivan of Cross Hands, Wales on Thursday, 14th December last. Carolyns father John and all the family have come to Camp regularly in the past few years, having discovered their ancestral family roots here in Camp and the historical family links broken through emigration several centuries ago are now rekindled and forged anew. Sympathy is extended to Carolyns husband, David son Daydtt and her father John, sister Jayne and all the extended family. R.I.P.

CONCERT

On Sunday afternoon, we left a cozy fire and braved the north east wind and went to Castle for the concert and boy! Was it worth it. Young talent, old talent, local and international people displaying their musical skills and love of singing. The MC did a great job bringing it all alive with natural good humor and skill. Thank you North Kerry for leading her to West Kerry.

The singing was beautiful. How can so many over 30s keep their voices in such good fettle. Is there a secret ingredient in the peninsula? It was interesting to hear that the people who wore shoes to school had challenges we barefooted pupils were unaware of. Elvis will never die, and Tom Jones was in great voice too. Our New Age entertainer was very impressive with his long sleek hair.

Having the words of the songs displayed on the screen was ‘the cream on the cake for us’. We were able to sing along like youngsters -- beats humming out the tune every time. It was wonderful to be part of such a joyous occasion raising money for two worthy causes. We are grateful for the invitation to contribute to these. We must mention Saturday and the Golden Oldies get together, where our spiritual and corporal needs were met, at the high standard we have grown accustomed to. Delicious Food, light fantastic dancing, great music and company all delivered by the stalwarts of Castle, they know who they are. Well done everyone

Lastly the Council would like to wish all the members of our community a very Happy Christmas and a healthy and prosperous New Year
