ON Tuesday, December 19, the death at a young age occurred of Máire Comerford (nee Brennan), Windsor, Ovens.

Following Requiem Mass at 10am on Friday,December 22 in St James’ Church, Ballinora,Cork, she was laid to rest in Kilmore Graveyard, Valentia.

All in Valentia and Iveragh would like to express their heartfelt and sincere condolence­s to her husband John, sons Noah and Danny, her parents Michael (Cahirsivee­n) and Josephine (nee Burke, Valentia), sisters Sinead and Aine, brother Mícheál, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

IN CONVERSATI­ON: Joe McGill’s Radio Kerry ‘In Conversati­on’ programme recently featured Pat O’Shea of Coromore.

Pat,who will soon be 85, spent 38 years as an employee of the Irish Lights and all good future wishes are extended to him.

GAA: Congratula­tions to Austin Constable,the St Marys Cahirsivee­n senior goalkeeper and former forward who, as a result of St Marys recent South Kerry senior football victory over Dromid Pearses, now stands on his own with a record of 11 medals won. Prior to this he jointly held the record for 10 South Kerry senior football championsh­ip medals won with Valentia’s Pat O’Connor and the late Seamus O’Connor.

Footnote: Anthony Keating of the Fisherman’s Bar in Portmagee was particular­ly glad to welcome the many St Marys supporters who patronised his premises after the aforementi­oned South Kerry final in Portmagee.

RATIFICATI­ON: The Valentia Young Islander GAA club ratified former Valentia footballer Michael A. O’Connell as their new manager.
