The Kerryman (North Kerry)

Paddy had a knowledge of the land beyond his time

-

Paddy Dennehy, Rossanean and Tullig

ON September 23, 2017 sadly and with deep regret, news of the sudden death of Paddy Dennehy R.I.P (of Rossanean, Currow and Tullig, Killorglin) came through. Paddy was pre-deceased by his wife Noreen Clifford (of Tullig, Killorglin) at Christmas time also, 13 years before. Noreen was Paddy’s rock and his loss.

Paddy and Noreen had two strapping sons, Paudie and Niall Dennehy, and one predeceased son, Timothy Dennehy. Paddy loved them very much and was very proud of his sons. Paudie and Joyce are the proud parents of granddaughter Mollie, whom Paddy doted upon.

Paddy was the second eldest boy and brother to the staunchly Dennehy family of Rossanean. Paddy learnt the trade of land-scaping, farming and brought many other hard working skills from his parents, the late Julia and Timothy Dennehy R.I.P.

There was no-one in the world like Paddy Dennehy, he was a very special, unique person, loved by everyone where he went. He worked willingly and diligently beside his parents on their farms in Killeagh and Rossanean.

He loved County Kerry and travelled every corner of it, where he left a memory and certainly touched people’s hearts. Paddy was a sensitive man, caring, giving, and unassuming. He was such a hard worker, and had a love and knowledge of the land that was beyond his time.

A special word of thanks to his life-long friend and neighbour Dan Joe Kelly who always listened and gave Paddy his time with great respect.

We would also like to remember all those who supported Paddy in his life, and those who were with him in his last resting place. We know these moments were very difficult and thank you for all you have done.

The family would like to thank Tangney’s funeral home, and the consideration they showed in that time of sudden grief.

Special thanks to the parish priest Fr. John Buckley who said a very special funeral Mass, of which we felt was very dedicated to Paddy. We would also like to thank the church singer, the gravediggers and all those who contributed to the funeral of Paddy Dennehy.

Also, to say thank you to all the extended family, friends and neighbours that travelled from all corners of Ireland to sympathise with the family.

The church came to a standstill when the famous Liam O’Connor and team played and we would like to thank him for his choice of music on such a sad occasion.

Noreen and Paddy, you are the ones we are missing this time of year and we keep you in our hearts.

Farewell to a gentle soul.
