UNDER 21 NORTH KERRY CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL Ballylongford/Asdee/Beale 1-15 Finuge 3.14. Finuge came out on top in a terrific game played in Duagh in the last game before the christmas break. The combination side had the advantage of the wind in the first half but it was Finuge who landed the first telling blow when Ger Stackpoole drove to the net to put them 1-1 to 0-2 ahead by the 5th minute,however their lead was short lived when Ciaran O’Connor fielded brilliantly and layed off to Darragh Buckley who still had work to do before finishing to the net to regain the lead. The combination side took control of proceedings and went four ahead by the 21st minute but Finuge came back strongly with three of their own led by man of the match Shane Conway.
Ciaran O’Connor who was excellent throughout finished out the scoring with two points to leave the half time score. B/A/B 1-9 Finuge 1-6. Finuge kicked over two quick points to reduce the deficit before they took a decisive lead with two quick goals the first coming from the penalty spot which was expertly dispatched by Gary Carey,this was followed a minute later by Ger Stackpooles second to put them five point clear of their opponents. Darragh Buckley got the combination side back in the game with two pointed frees after fouls on Darragh Keane who was making good runs at the Finuge defence.The game ebbed and flowed to the hour mark with the combination side getting the margin down to two points but Finuge finished strongly kicking overc three points without reply in injury time.
