THIS was the second schoolto have two teams in a finaland once again not a lot separated the sides. The sixth class side led by two points but a three on the buzzer from just inside the half way line from Sean Finnegan put sixth ahead by five at the half time interval.

Fifth went basket for basket in the second half, just seven points separated the sides with two minutes to go. The sides exchanged baskets as the clock ran down and a fast break for fifth narrowed the gap to four with two great scores from Shane Daly. Fifth had an inbound with three seconds remaining but it was intercepte­d and sixth took the senior boys title by four.

JUNIOR NS BOYS A

Gael scoil Aogáin 15 Kilmurry 7

GAELSCOIL registered the first score of the game while for Kilmurry it was Gerard Costello from the free throw line. It was a close first half, both teams had opportunit­ies but fund it difficult to score. The half time score saw Gaelscoill­ead by four points.

Gaelscoilw­ere more accurate in their shooting in the second half and pushed ahead nine points to one mid way through. Cillian O Duinneacha and Padraig O Brosnachái­n intercepte­d many of Kilmurry’s passes making it difficult for them to get shots off. Kilmurry’s made their first score of the second half but Gaelscoilw­ere quick to respond. Kilmurry made a huge comeback adding six points to their half time score but time was not on their side. MVP: Cillian O’Duinneacha.

JUNIOR NS BOYS LOCAL

Kilmurry 14 BNS 7

THE junior nationalsc­hoolboys game was played at the speed of light and despite their height these boys had no problem reaching the net. Danny Murphy and Tadhg Nolan were first to score for their respective teams and no one was too shy to have a go.

Jamie Nolan and Tadhg McCarthy secured severalste­als for Kilmurry and were wellable for the fast break. Boys NationalSc­hool MichaelGri­ffin won some great rebounds at both ends. Just a point separated the sides at half time.

Tadhg McCarthy and Michael Griffin exchanged scores three minutes into the second half much to the delight of a packed house despite the early hour. Shay O’Connor put Kilmurry ahead by a point with just over three minutes to go and Jamie Nolan another. Kilmurry held a three point lead with 1.23 on the clock. BNS Tadhg Nolan fought hard for possession as the clock ran down but Kilmurry made some steals to net two final score and take the game by seven.

SENIOR NS BOYS B

Scoil Eoin Yellow 15 Scoil Eoin Blue 12

A GREAT achievemen­t for Scoil Eoin Tralee to have two teams in the finalof this competitio­n but a tough one for the coaches as they moved from bench to bench to guide the boys who were evenly matched throughout the first half but the Yellow team went a basket ahead just before the interval courtesy of team captain Thomas Kennedy.

Ronan Grattan netted one for the blues but as the game progressed the yellows pushed ahead and led by seven with two minutes to go but a great finalpush by the blues saw them reduce it to three on the buzzer.

JUNIOR NS BOYS B

Scartaglen 14 Scoil Ide 10

AS expected the pace was fast and the baskets were popping in easily for these boys. The sides were levelat six points each with 1.10 remaining in the first half and this remained the score at the interval. Kyle Buckley was first to score for Scart while Jamie Kerins made two from the line for ScoilIde. The second half was just as exciting with nothing separating the sides. With less than two minutes to go Scartaglen pushed ahead by two baskets and held their lead as the clock ran down.
