GMHD Insurance stay on as sponsors of Juvenile Classic
THE 2018 GMHD.ie Insurances Killarney Juvenile Classic was launched recently at the sponsor’s head office in Killarney.
Speaking at the launch Denis Murphy, MD of GMHD said: “GMHD.ie Insurances are again delighted to sponsor the first classic of the year at the Kingdom Greyhound Stadium. This has grown to be Ireland’s leading unraced event with a production line of superb greyhounds that go on to contest all the major events in Ireland and the UK.
“For example, 2016 winner Escapism went on to be a Derby finalist and don’t forget 2015 Boylesports Irish Greyhound Derby Winner Ballymac Matt was a Juvenile Classic finalist that year. Year on year it produces top class dogs and it certainly is the great thing about the Juvenile how it gives young dogs a chance to show their trade and exciting to see them improve over the rounds of the event.”
Declan Dowling, Sales and Operations Manager at the Kingdom Greyhound stadium said: “The stadium is very grateful to GMHD.ie Insurances Killarney for their continued sponsorship of our premier event here at the stadium and would urge all greyhound owners and patrons to support Denis and his company when insuring their various assets. This event has always proved to be of the highest quality introducing dogs that go onto contest the major events on the calendar.
“I have no doubt that 2018 will be of the same calibre and we could be looking at entrants from this event competing in both the English Derby at Towcester and the Irish premier event at Shelbourne Park. Many of Ireland’s top owners and trainers have expressed an interest in having runners in this years event and I am really looking to the start date of February 9th.”
The entries for the upcoming event that starts on Friday, February 9 for January 2016 whelps or later, are now being taken. Official and unofficial trials from entrants to the Juvenile will take place on the three Friday evenings preceding the event.
Any owners or trainers who wish to trial their dogs in Tralee from here to close of entries on Tuesday, February 6 should call the racing office on 061 448057.
