Ireland’s largest non-profit gym taking shape shortly

-

WHAT will be Ireland’s largest non-profit gym is to start taking shape at the Community Centre shortly, as a long-awaited loan was greenlit to take the current gym to the next level was finally promised this week.

Manager Tony Duggan said he was delighted with the development. Since 2006 the Community Centre in Listowel has been fundraising to build a new extension for their gym. Last week the final loan required was approved.

The 5,000 sq ft extension is set to be the largest non-profit gym in the country. “It’s great that it’s finally happening for us,” Tony said.

The whole gym is set to be transformed and re-positioned. Once in place, the Centre will be in a position to offer new and improved services and activities in the gym.

The gym that is in place upstairs will be moved down into the new extension which looks onto the Town Park of Listowel. “It has a great view of the town park and it’s lovely to be able to involve that in some way,” Tony added.

The cardio room of the gym will have the best view alongside the functional training zone and strength and conditioning area. The old gym upstairs will be converted into two rooms – a spinning room and a heavy weights room.

While there is no set date on the opening of the new gym there will definitely be something held in order to mark such an amazing occasion. Tony credits the extension to the community itself: “Thanks to all the members for supporting us over the years and we look forward to providing top class facilities for the community”.
