GAA ANNUAL SOCIAL

The Beale GAA Annual Social will take place on Saturday 27th January at Kilcooly’s Country House Hotel. Music on the night by Ger Walsh, tickets priced at €25 each are available from The Railway, The Bunker, Maurice King, Brid Griffin and John Hannan.

Ballybunio­n Community Centre’s AGM will take place on Tuesday 30th January at 7.30pm

The ‘Millionair­e Quiz’ will commence at The Railway Bar on Monday 29th January.

Also The ‘Charity Putting Quiz’ is starting on Sunday 4th February in Mikey Joe’s.

SUNDAY TEA DANCE

The next Sunday afternoon tea dance is on Sunday 28th January at The Hibernian Bar Ballybunio­n. It is on from 2 to 5 Adm. €5 Music by Ger Walsh.

CASHEN VALE BOXING CLUB

A huge congratula­tion to Kevin Cronin on his nomination for a Kerry sports star award. The Cashen Vale Heavyweigh­t Champion will join the creme de la creme of Kerry sport, at the Kerry Sport Stars & Special Awards Gala Banquet in the INEC Killarney on Friday 2nd February next. Elsewhere Donacha Sayers, our Boy 2 National Champion returned to the Elite Schoolboys Squad Training in the High-Performanc­e Gym at the National Boxing Stadium last Sunday. This is the first session back after the Christmas break.

SOCCER TOURNAMENT

The Jack O’Sullivan memorial indoor soccer tournament at The Community Centre on Sunday last raised €1,700. With 21 teams taking part cheered on by hundreds of spectators throughout the day.

MENS SHED NEWS

Irish Men’s shed associatio­n is partnering with Get Ireland Walking and we will be running a workshop in 2018 with an emphasis on trails,including design and maintenanc­e.We are putting together a resource pack to enable members to increase participat­ion in walking.We wish to thank our evening walkers who have braved the elements every evening at 7.30pm to walk around town and we invite everybody to join in the fun while getting some exercise as well.

We wish to thank Angela and Liam Bunyan who generously sponsored the weekly papers free to the local shed.

Our shed was featured in the Farmers Journal recently and there is an article about our activities in the current issue of the Ballydonog­hue Journal.

We wish to thank the local community for supporting us throughout the year and we look forward to your continuing support.

TIDY TOWNS AGM

Ballybunio­n Tidy towns will hold its Annual General Meeting on Tuesday January 30th at 4.30 pm in the Old Convent on Doon Road and new members from the community are invited to attend.

This is a novice competitio­n and all rule are on the Kerry CCE website and entry form can be downloaded here.

This is an ideal competitio­n for children learning music and singing for the last two years. Lixnaw will hold its annual Feile Ceoil 3rd and 4th February with novice competitio­n for Music, Singing and Step-dancing.

DEATHS

The death occurred in London of Michael O’Sullivan, late of Patrick St and 40 Charles St, Listowel. Sympathy is extended to his brother, Donal and Mary O’Sullivan and family, Loughanes, Lisselton. Cremation will take place in London and private burial of ashes at a later date.

The death took place on January 8th of Hannah-Mai O’Connor (nee Long, Guhard), Listowel. Sympathy is extended to her husband, Bernie, her sisters, Margaret and Teresa, her brothers, Mike, Jer, John and Pat-Joe and to their extended families and her many friends. His remains were removed to SS Peter’s & Paul’s Church, Ballyduff and burial was in Rahela Cemetery.The death took place of Agnes O’Donoghue (née) Browne, Meenoghane, Causeway. Her remains were removed from Casey’s Funeral Home, Causeway to St. John’s Church. Burial was in St. John’s Cemetery, Causeway.Sympathy is extended to the families, relatives & friends of the above deceased.

His remains arrived at St. Mary’s Church, Ballyheigu­e on Saturday 13th January for Requiem Mass and burial afterwards in the Holy Family Cemetery, Ballyheigu­e. Rest in Peace. (Predecease­d by his father Myles and brother Aidan) Sadly missed by his loving family mother Noreen, sister Breda, brothers Myles, Brendan and Paudie, aunt Mary, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces and nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

COMMUNITY GAMES 2018

FOCUS ON EUCHARIST

The children and parents of First Communion are invited to the Vigil Mass on Saturday next 20th January at 8.00pm. This is a very important part of children’s preparatio­n for First Communion involving parents and Parish to complement the work of the teachers.
