MAUREEN DEANE R.I.P.

HER SON JOHN DEANE REMEMBERS–LOVE unconditonal that is what Maureen Deane was all about.

Maureen spent the first 2 years of her life in Lateeve, an Irish speaking area and she had no English when she came to Camp. She was deeply affected by the loss of her mother at 14 years of age.

Maureen fell in love and married Brendan Deane and they were some team. They worked hard to rear six children and made a good living off the land. Money was not plentiful but the family never wanted for anything. I know we were lucky to have not one but two great parents, who would do anything for us.

Maureen was a great cook, who has not enjoyed one of her Rhubarb and apple pies, daily baked bread, Blackberry jam, Mutton pies, the list is endless. I believe her special ingredient was the love she put into all her cooking. Maureen was the essence of Irish hospitality, before any phones, cars full of visitors often arrived unexpectedly. She always welcomed them and made the tea and nobody ever left our house hungry.

Maureen’s other love was her faith. She was not a preacher, she lived her faith every day. Mum, you will always be in our hearts and wherever people love each other.
