GIRLS U13 BASKETBALL
Congratulations to the Duagh/ U13 girls basketball team who won certificates at the County Community Games basketball competition last Saturday. In total twelve teams took part, six teams in Duagh and six in Casltielsnadn with the top two teams making the semifinals. The Duagh/Lyre team were in group one with Ballydonoghue/ Lisselton and Fossa. In the first game v Ballydonoghue/Lisselton the girls played well together and won on a score of 18-8. Their second game v Fossa the girls played brilliantly together and won 19-2. This saw the girls qualify for the semi-finals in the afternoon session in Castleisland. An open draw for the semi-finals saw them draw favourites Castleisland, here the girls fought hard and dug deep but it wasn=92t to be losing on a score of 24-14. Into the 3rd and 4th place playoff against Firies saw the girls get off to a great start going up 6-0 and 8-2, some chances didn=92t go the girls way and Fires came back at them. The girls kept up the challenge until the end with a score of 20-28, Firies taking bronze and Duagh/Lyre taking the certificates. The girls were thrilled to make the finals and had a very enjoyable day of basketball with plenty experience and court time received. Huge congratulations to the Boys U13 on winning bronze medals today, delighted for ye and great effort put in throughout the day.Boys U13 basketball competition with 12 teams participating 6 in Castleisland & 6 in Duagh Sport & Leisure Complex. In Duagh the home team produced some brilliant basketball seeing off Ballydonoghue/Lisselton 30
