Toastmasters to hold open night at John B’s
JOHN B’s will be the venue for the next meeting of Listowel Toastmasters as the club prepares to hold an open night at the landmark pub on Thursday, March 8, at 8pm.
A warm welcome is extended to anyone interested in joining them on that occasion which promises to be a great night of fun and entertainment. There will also be tea, coffee and sandwiches served.
Drawn from all age groups and walks of life, its growing membership hails from Listowel and the wider north Kerry and west Limerick areas.
Toastmasters is an international organisation which helps people improve their communication skills through public speaking, developing their confidence and leadership skills along the way.
A key part of meetings sees a range of diverse topics put to the floor by the topics master and members voluntarily respond. People participate at their own convenience and no one is forced to speak. Based on the principle of learning-by-doing, each Toastmasters meeting also includes readings such as a story or poem.
The supportive atmosphere and no-pressure environment helps individuals gain confidence from the experience of standing up in front of a crowd.
From wedding speeches to job interviews and everyday conversation, the personal benefits are endless.
