Kate seeks support for marathon run to help Recovery Haven

-

A WEST Kerry woman now living and working in London is urging everyone back home to get behind her as she prepares to embark on a fundraising marathon this April.

Kate O’Brien, from Gallarus, will compete in this year’s Brighton Marathon on April 15 to raise money for Recovery Haven Kerry Cancer Support House.

Kate, who is working as a physiotherapist at St George’s Hospital in Tooting, South London, was keen to raise funds for a local Kerry charity and said that Recovery Haven is particularly close to her heart.

“Someone very close to me was very well looked after at Recovery Haven, so I wanted to do something for them in return, knowing that the money I raise will stay local and will be put to great use in the local community,” Kate said.

This is not Kate’s first time raising funds in aid of Recovery Haven Kerry – last year ( pictured above) she competed in the Ring of Kerry Cycle with some friends from home on the charity’s behalf.

The former Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne student is asking those interested in sponsoring her upcoming marathon effort to donate via her ‘Every Day Hero’ fundraising page by logging onto www. everydayhero.com/ie/charities/ and searching for ‘Kate O’Brien’. You can also find the direct link to her support page on the ‘Recovery Haven Kerry’ Facebook Page
