McMahon shares top spot in Fantasy Coursing

MICHAEL McMahon, of Ballybunio­n, has achieved the rare distinctio­n of filling three of the top four places in the fantasy coursing competitio­n run by the Sporting Press.

He shared top place, on 805 points, with two of his selections and won prize money of €4,700 in the process. Also on 805 points was Ian Bourke, of Oola, who won €2,350.

The competitio­n allowed an entrant to select eight greyhounds and Michael had the same seven in his two winning selections – Bexhill Anna, Blades Of Fire, Dicks Bimbo, Kyle Mozart, Ballygeral­d Buzz, Trillainmi­nella and Kyle Alex.

He also accumulate­d 800 points with another selection of eight greyhounds, which merited fourth place.

Michael and Ian Hill will be invited to the ICC awards dinner in the Radisson Blu Hotel, Limerick, on April 14, and they will receive their cheques at the function.

A fantasy coursing competitio­n for charity saw Shane Curtin, of Abbeyfeale, finish joint second with 620 points.
