Ryan Downey won his 5th consecutive Munster title when he defeated Dane Finn (St Nicholas BC) in the Junior 2. 50 kg, category. The Ballybunion youth started well and boxed at a high tempo for all 3 rounds, controlling the first and second round by landing good jabs, and wrapping up the title in the 3rd round on a score of 5-0. Aaron McElligott stopped Cathal Cox from the (Southside BC) in the first round of their 70 kg Boy 4 bout. The Kilflyn Boy is a class apart as he easily won his 3rd Munster title. Both Downey and McElligott are holders of National Schoolboy titles and have had wins in International competitions. Dylan Falvey lost to 3 times national champion L Gureshidze (Togher BC). Dylan won his semi-final last weekend on a score of 5-0 over a worthy opponent, but on this occasion, the Lixnaw boy had to settle for Silver.

TY students: Each Wednesday some of our volunteers work with TY students at St Joseph’s Secondary School on various community projects for the benefit of the town.

St Patrick’s Day: Currently we are all getting ready with costumes and floats for the St Patrick’s Day Parade, which will be upon us in a few weeks.

Book recycling: Our latest recycling/reuse venture, "bring a book, take one away" is going very well. This is sited in the foyer of Cahill’s Supervalu. Any avid readers out there, and there are many, you might find an interesting title to grab your attention and by bringing a book you’ve finished with, clear some valuable shelf space.

Would be extremely grateful to anyone who has a storage container any size and would be willing to donate to tidy towns and thank you. Contact 089-4128600.
