KILMOYLEY NS VISIT
History came alive for the pupils to Fifth and Sixth classes, Kilmoyley National School when Justin Horgan, author of “LuftwaffeEagles over Ireland. The story of German air crashes over neutral Ireland 1940-1945. Justin addressed the pupils telling them about the German airmen who crashed in Ireland during the Second World War and how those who survived were interned in the Curragh Camp. Justin concentrated on the German air crashes that happened in Kerry. The children were fascinated by the outstanding presentation. Justin gave a gift of his magnificent book to the school.
SNOW PATROL
Storm Emma and the "Beast from the East" did not thankfully have the destructive effect on the parish that was widely predicted, although some homes did lose water for a time due to the frozen temperatures.
Families around the parish were busy having fun in the snow making snowmen, snow families of all shapes and sizes and various snow scenes, and it was the first experience for many of our younger parishioners of playing in such snowy conditions.
Lerrig Lough did not escape either with the ducks enduring slippery conditions as they were frozen out of the water. But there were plenty of friendly passers by to supply them with feed to help them through the icy spell.
TRALEE PARK RUN
Well done to the organisers of this event who worked tirelessly on Friday and Saturday last though Storm Emma to ensure this week’s event got the green light. Well done to Gerald Carroll, Padraig Regan and Agnes Godley who braved the elements and finished with very impressive times.
The 5k Park runs take place every Saturday mornings in the Town park Tralee at 9:30am for all ages, while the 2k junior park run takes place on Sundays at 9:30am also. Both runs are free. See www.parkrun.ie for details.

DEATH of Eileen McGrath; details from Brigid McGrath, I am contacting you as my aunt Eileen McGrath sadly died on February 23rd 2018. She grew up in Athea and Moyvane, but left for England when she was young. I visited the area with her 3 years ago when we brought my Dad Martin McGrath`s ashes home. I am so glad she was able to bring me to the areas of Athea and Moyvane, to show me where she grew up. Her mother was May Kennelly, and Grandparents Brigit (Bridie) and Martin Kennelly from Gortdromasillihy. I would like to let the community know that Eileen has passed, as there may be people who remember her. Her funeral will be on 9th March in Rendlesham, Suffolk. I would be happy for anyone who knew Eileen to contact me. She was always so proud of her Irish roots, and from the places she spent her early years. If you could share this message on your page, or in your newsletter, it would be much appreciated. With best wishes, Brigid McGrath.
