DEATHS
The death took place, unexpectedly, of Nuala Egan (née Dowling) on February 24 at Kerry University Hospital. Nuala who was aged 74 years was pre-deceased by her husband Jackie who died in 2012. Her remains reposed at her son Sean’s home in Tarmons East. Requiem Mass took place on Wednesday February 28 at 12 noon in St.Mary’s Church, Tarbert. The Mass was concelebrated by Fr. Pádraig Kennelly, Fr.John O’Connor, Fr. James O’Hanlon, Fr. Brendan O’Callaghan, Fr. Mossie Brick, Fr. Gerard Finucane and Fr. Danny Broderick. The congregation was told that Nuala’s life of commitment and dedication encompassed the 4 F’s–Faith, Family, Friends and Farming. She had a great love of gardening, looking after the soil and rural values which she passed on to her family.
She was active in community affairs and cared for her neighbours. She helped the late Fr. Michael Leahy raise much need parish funds in the 1970’s winning the Colleen Bán title for her efforts. On a bitterly cold day with snow on the hills she was laid to rest beside her late husband, Jackie.
