Cheltenham pulse gets racing in great night for the KPFA
RAISING more money than ever and cutting through the overwhelming racing info to deliver hot Cheltenham tips – it was all in another great night’s work for the annual Cheltenham Preview event at Christy’s in aid of the Kerry Parents’ and Friends’ Association.
The Association was delighted with the response as more than 200 packed the bar at the top of the Square to hear from the expert panel assembled under MC Pat Healy.
The panel consisted of David Casey, Michael ‘Chips’ Gannon, Eric McNamara, Michael Winters and bookmaker Berkie Browne – who sponsored the charity tips on the night.
Each tipster got a €100 charity bet with whatever makings to go straight to the Kerry Parents’ and Friends’ local operations. Given long odds and great prices, the charity bets frequently deliver vital funding for the organisation, combined with the proceedings at the door on the night.
And the tips are as follows: David Casey backed a win for Cause of Causes running on Wednesday; Chips Gannon opted for a win on Sire de Berlais running on Friday; Eric McNamara backed Native River for a win running on Friday and Michael Winters backed Moon Racer - also running on Friday – each way.
Berkie - who pulled off a big win this week himself with the lease of their William St bookies to Boylesport - meanwhile went for Undesaux on Thursday.
All in the KPFA will be watching the races with bated breaths like half the town now as the week continues. But it made for a great night.
“It was the best preview night yet for the KPFA in terms of the takings at the door, and a brilliant night for racing fans with Pat Healy and Billy Keane doing a fantastic job as MC and roving mike man,” Christy said.
