Kerry announce Kennedy Cup squad

-

THE 2018 Kennedy Cup is only a few months away and the build-up has really began with the naming of the 2018 squad. Kerry who won the Cup in 2015, finished seventh in 2016 the Shield in 2017 should be in the pot of the top 8 seeds for the draw which will take place this Friday at 3pm and is live on the SFAI Facebook page.

The management team, under head coach Joe O’Reilly, has been working with these players for a number of years and following this season’s Under 14s ETP have made the tough decision to name a squad of 20 players.

“This is always one of the hardest parts of the Kennedy Cup management as we have to disappoint a number of players who have put in a great effort over many months. However we will be keeping an eye on those players who were unsuccessful at this time as they could still be called in due to injuries or other issues with the named squad. And I also want to assure them that they will still have plenty of opportunities to get involved in the Kerry soccer set-up in the future”.

Six clubs are represented in this year’s squad: St Brendan’s Park, Killorglin, Listowel Celtic, Killarney Athletic, Tralee Dynamos and Fenit.

Kennedy Cup players: St Brendan’s Park: Colin Doody, Sean O’Connor, Kieran O’Connor, Cianan Cooney, Conor Kerins, Sean Hill, Sean O’Connell, Messiah Chirwa, Liam Carmody; Killorglin: Tom Whittleton, Conor Spillane, Jason O’Connor, Eoghan Hassett; Listowel Celtic: Jack Moloney, Robert Stack, Kieran O’Connell; Killarney Athletic: Mathew Horgan, Roco Rudjucan; Fenit: Eddie McCarthy; Tralee Dynamos: Andy Rogers.
