Late goal sees Legion edge win away in Dingle

-

Dingle 0-12 Killarney Legion 1-10

LEGION had a victory out in Pairc an Ághasaigh last year in the Senior Club Championship and it proved a happy hunting ground for them upon their return to the top flight as a goal from Jamie O’Sullivan for the Killarney side late on proved to be the decisive score.

The late Aodhán Ó Conchúir was remembered before play got underway as O’Sullivan scored the first two points for the visitors. Mikey Boland and Cathal Bambury got Dingle going on the scoreboard but Finbarr Murphy and Jonathon Lyne gave the visitors a lead of 0-6 to 0-5 at the break.

O’Sullivan scored the first two points of the second period like he did in the first with Dingle needed Cathal Bambury to keep them in touch at the three-quarter mark in trailing by 0-9 to 0-7.

Dingle’s best period of the match would follow though as points from Bambury, Boland and Patrick O’Connor had the hosts in front for the first time but they couldn’t sustain thanks to O’Sullivan’s goal at the other end, 1-6 (4f) his personal total.

Breandan Kelliher scored a consolation point for the hosts prior to the final whistle as they lost out to their fellow Senior Championship side.
