TALKING POINT

This was an occasion laced with reminders of recent tragedy. The game had originally been scheduled forFebruary 24, but deep concern about the effects of a head injury on Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne’s Russell Cup panellist Aodhán Ó Conchúir saw the fixture delayed. The 14-year old passed away in Cork UniversityHospital the day after the postponement, and his memory was at the forefront of everything on Saturday. The Pobalscoil did not use the no.2 jersey, the numberwornby Aodhán, and a minute’s silence was held ahead of Amhrán na bhFiann as a markofrespect to the late Dingle club man. The silence also served to honour Listry stalwart John Griffin and was impeccably observed by the 870-strong crowd.
