Killorglin dig deep to earn Division 3 win over visiting Charleville
MUNSTER JUNIOR LEAGUE DIVISION 3
Killorglin 21 Charleville 12
KILLORGLIN welcomed promotion chasing Charleville to Ballymalis for the last regular game of the season. Charelville drew first blood with a suspect try that came from what appeared to be two Charleville knock-ons, and added the conversion to lead 7-0. Killorglin had the lions share of possession for the rest of the half but couldn’t get over the line. The score at halftime remained at 7-0.
Killorglin got on the scoreboard after 10 minutes of the second half. The home side spread the ball to the wing and Liam Griffin did very well to score near the touch line. The conversion went just wide. Charleville scored an opportunistic try when Killorglin lost concentration and the visitors touched down from a quick penalty and duly added the conversion to push 14-5 ahead.
Killorglin got back into the game with another good try. A well executed line out and quick ball from the back of the ruck saw Dave Coffey feed Tom Healy who showed great strength to get over the line.
Luke O’Shea made no mistake with the conversion. Killorglin, with no subs on the day, tired and Charleville were awarded a penalty try to finish the game as 21-12 victors.
Corca Dhuibhne 24 Ennis 34
CORCA Dhuibhne gave a spirited performance despite losing to a strong Ennis side at home last Sunday. The Clare side had too much in their armoury for the West Kerry outfit, although they can take consolation with the displays of Brian Murphy and debutant Darragh Fitzgerald.
The Corca Dhuibhne try scorers were Nicky Moriarty and Caoilte Curneen while Adam Daly touched down twice. Seamus Moriarty added two conversions for the home side. Corca Dhuibhne remain in ninth place in the table on 8 points.
