Finding the right place starts with finding the right advice

-

REHABILITATION, step down and convalescent care, patient acute services, day services, community services, home care and home helps are among the list of services provided by the HSE for older people in the community. Finding the right place is about finding the right advice as looking for such services can be a daunting task for people, especially as need for them often comes on us suddenly in life. Thankfully, there’s a good mix of public and private services available across the county which the HSE can help advice on.

To find out about the range of services you are entitled to, their location and how to access them, you should first contact the Public Health Nurse at your nearest Health Centre who will be best placed to address your queries. Also, chat to your local GP about any concerns as he/she will be aware of medical history and medical needs and might be able to offer sound advice and suggestions. Finding what’s right for you or a loved one requires you to be vocal and persistent with queries. If you don’t understand fully the range of options available to you, don’t be afraid to ask again. Stress and anxiety pays no heed to how old or young we are and therefore you must ensure your mind is put at rest when seeking advice.
