PEG MCCARTHY

The death took place during the week of Peg McCarthy (nee Dineen) of Ballyduff and formerly of Carrigane Asdee.

Peg and her late husband John owned The Hawthorn Pub in Ballyduff for many years and it was a popular calling place for Asdee people travelling between Asdee and Tralee.

A member of a very well known and highly respected family she was a lady of warm and outgoing disposition who got on very well with everyone.

During the 80’s and early 90’s the Asdee Rovers team used to call to the bar coming back from matches and they were always given the very best of hospitality.

The esteem in which Peg and her family are held locally was reflected in the huge and widely representative congregations thet turned out for the removal of her remains

from Lawlors Funeral Home in Ballyduff to her home in Ballyeigh, Ballybunion and again at the Requiem Mass and internment which took place to St John’s
